Dressing for Fall/Winter

Fall and Winter is one of my favorite season of the year. I love coats and leather since it is easy to pull on an elegant and chic look whilst covering up unwanted bulges. I'll show a few winter look that I love below. For this season, items with studs and zipper details, peep toe/cut out booties and thigh high boots are the must have items. I love the season but I don't spend every season buying new outfit just to look in trend. To me the best way is to invest in shoes. After all never have to worry about shoes not fitting in if you lose or gain weight, which is a plus point.
Kelsi Dagger Briallen, $220.00 from Piperlime.com
(p/s: doesn't look like thigh high boots here cause I resized it)
Love the color, the not too high heel and the zipper detail. I know the price is not that cheap, but for the design I think it's worth it. Plus it's hard to get boots for a really cheap price. Not sure about the fitting but if anyone have it, feel free to comment about it. You can even find some comments on piperlime website.

How to wear it:

Thigh high boots has always been associated with prostitute and strippers.
To avoid looking like that, pair it with shorts or skirts which length just touching the top of the boot. Avoid showing skin between them. Also, go for a simple loose top, nothing too revealing. The shoe is already sexy enough, so just let it do the talking.
Also, you can do the pull over the jeans look.

This is the peep toe bootie from nine west.
Phantom $99.00 available from nine west.com
A simple take on the trend.

How to wear it:
Easily matched with skinny jeans, floral/girly dresses to toughen them up, and of course legging/jeggings.

*I'll look for a fancier version of this in the next post.

Found IT!!! :)

Ah, I'm happy to say I found the dress. I'll be posting a picture soon. Just Wardrobe is a pretty good place to look for dress, they have from casual dress, to evening and even to bridal wear. The staff are extremely friendly, helping me with looking for the dress. I was amazed by the collection of dresses that they have. Price wise, I would say it is extremely well priced. The dresses cost from 100 to 300 dollar. If you plan on visiting this place, it is just opposite Gurney Plaza on Kelawai Road. It is a double story shop house, you might miss it on the first drive, but fret not, just turn back at the round about and look for it.

Still Looking for the Dress

Anyway I'm still hunting for the dress. Didn't have time to hit the mall yet since last weekend. Been busy with working neways. Good thing though I found this new place to check on Jalan Kelawai. I read about them in an article in The Star, so I should be heading there sometime this week. Hopefully I'd get what I want there. Fingers cross. They import dresses from US and Europe and even carry plus sizes. I'll tell more once I get there. Anyway thought I might show a few ideas that I have on the dress that I'm looking for. Most of the photos would be from US based brand, so probably can't get the exact same design but something close would be great. I wanted something simple, in solid color, preferable silk or satin, no cotton of course, knee length dress and in a simple flattering cut. Reason I wanted something this simple is that I want to be able to customize the look with different accessories, so I wont look like I've worn the same dress over and over again to every single event. Plus keeping the dress simple, would make it a lifetime investment since it would not go out of style. Oh yes, I forgot to add, the dress should have a bit of sleeve since I would like to hide my arms.

This is a dress from JCREW: Silk taffeta bow monde dress, it retails at $225.00. I like the simplicty of the cutting and the detail at the neckline. Just pair it with a simple black heels, a beautiful bracelet and an evening clutch and the look would be perfect. I wouldn't want to ruin the beautiful detail at the neck with a necklace that would take the attention away from it. It gives a I'm not trying too hard look and yet you would still look elegent. But if you want to punch up a the look a look a bit, invest in a pair of killer heel.

Back in Fashion deprived state.

After spending 3 years in the fabulously fashionable NY, I'm back in Penang, Malaysia. It was my decision to come back, but the lack of fashionable items are driving me crazy! I have a wedding to attend and I've been scouring high and low for an appropriate dress to wear. All I want is a simple knee length dress with a bit of sleeve to cover up my trouble area, and some fabulous construction. But NO! There's hardly any that I can find, even if I find one there is problem to even get my size. Apparently they think everyone fits into sizes 4 and 6. The dresses are usually a bit on the older side and outdated to the fashion world. As I was looking at bluefly, saks fifth ave., urban outfiters and fcuk online websites, I wish I'm back in NYC. Where people would actually understand how important it is to get the PERFECT dress. How it is worth it to search high and low for that dress. And actually being able to find one. Good luck to myself to find on in a week or two. Thats all for today. Just feel like letting it out, since no one been able to relate to me on this matter. Those who doesn't think like me wouldn't be able to understand what I'm feeling.

About the Average Jane

To those who are reading,

This will be my first take on blogging. Never done it before but thought I would share my love for fashion with other girls/women out there. I love fashion, but as we know its not the most "normal women size" friendly. I'm not your model look alike. Standing at 170 cm and weighing at 70 kg makes me a US size 8 or 10. Looking good in clothes is not an easy task and dressing to look like 10 pound lighter has always been my aim. There is lots of clothes out there for those who are slender, but for me it makes it a bit more challenging. I'll be sharing my thoughts on clothes out there and ideas I have on items that would work together.
